Four Dinton bowlers have been called up to represent their counties in a national competition after being crowned champions of the 2018/19 Wiltshire Short Mat Bowls League.
Bowlers Sue Hamilton and Dave Slater have been selected to represent Wiltshire in the upcoming Inter County Championship (ICC) while Elsie and Robin Gale will bowl for Dorset.
The ICC, starting on September 14, is a National League Competition featuring UK County Teams. Regionalised in the first round, each county plays the others in their group home and away. The winners and runners-up in each group progress to the next round, again a League format, which plays through to determine the ICC Champions.
Dave Slater said: “We were very pleased to win the Wilts League last year and Sue and I are delighted to be selected for the County Team. I made my Wiltshire debut in 2017 and have been a regular ever since, the standard at County level is very high and I enjoy the challenge of playing against the top players in the country.”
Wiltshire were drawn against Avon, Gloucester and Oxford and Dorset go up against Devon, Somerset and Cornwall.
