A grant application to Gillingham Town Council by Gillingham School Council Gardening Section requested help to finance a ‘healing garden’ at Gillingham School to provide a quiet space for pupils away from noise, phones and academic life.

The garden will be created by pupils and volunteers from the school community. The cost of the project is £2,343.57 but only £ 1,000 was requested, and the remainder sourced from fundraising.

Cllr Harris considered it was a very worthy project.

Gillingham School Council was awarded the £1,495, remaining in the council’s grant fund for this year, towards the ‘healing garden’ project.
