On behalf of Shaftesbury Town Council, I thank all of the organisers of last Sunday’s Food and Drink festival.
It was a fantastic success, there must have been thousands of people in the town centre enjoying Dorset’s best home-grown products, with the variety of different foods available from Mexican to Greek to American.
The weather couldn’t have been better – true cider-drinking weather!
I would especially like to commend Shaftesbury School’s Young Enterprise team selling their home-made recycled candles.
The newly resurrected Byzant ceremony was a great pleasure to have been a part of, and very apt for a celebration of Shaftesbury’s old water supply to share the date with a Food and Drink festival.
We are looking forward to the next big event in the town this Sunday (May 20) – The North Dorset Cycle Ride.
Piers Brown – Mayor,
