Police stopped a vehicle in Amesbury yesterday afternoon (March 14) after being flagged down by a person with concerns about a car with an unrestrained child sitting in the back.

The Toyota Avensis was spotted on Pointers Way and stopped by officers. It had five passengers on board – one a toddler completely unrestrained and not in a seat.

The male driver, in his 20s, was reported for driving with a child wearing no seatbelt, having no MOT, and a tyre with no tread.

PC Aaron Pedliham, Amesbury, said: “I encourage the public to report concerns like this to the police. Road safety is important, and this driver showed a clear disregard for traffic law and the safety of his passengers and other road users.”

If you see something similar, call 101, or 999 in an emergency.
