Salisbury picture framer Jules Wright of Fisherton Framing has won an award at the Fine Art Trade Guild’s annual Art and Framing Industry Awards 2019 in Stratford-Upon-Avon.
The studio in Fisherton Mill entered the Computer Mount Cutter category. Each entrant had the same picture, a photo of a Rennie Mackintosh chair to mount. The entries were submitted unframed to be judged as a mount design. The competition attracted entries from the Guild’s many members around the world.
“‘I entered because I enjoy being creative,” said Jules. “This challenge had so many possibilities as Mackintosh produced such iconic designs. Just being chosen as a finalist was a thrill, but winning was an incredible surprise and a huge honour.’
Jules, who started the business 18 months ago, used his state-of-the-art machinery to create the design. The technology allows an infinite range of designs and Jules has created a number of bespoke mounts for original artwork, medals and other treasured items.
Fisherton Framing also does conventional framing and sells specially made framed prints.
Best Design award presented to Jules Wright by award sponsors representative Sarah Osborne.
