Salisbury Cathedral is acting in line with the announcement by Downing Street, arranging for the single bell used to call the congregation to Evensong at Salisbury Cathedral to be tolled by a verger at 7pm on Maundy Thursday.

The action is in solidarity with France after the devastating fire at Notre-Dame Cathedral. The bell will be rung for a few minutes. The Cathedral is in the middle of Holy Week, being prepared for a major service at that time.

From Thursday, the Cathedral moves into a period of constant prayer and reflection.
