PAUL HUGHES, group Nissan brand manager at Westover Group celebrated 25 years of service at the motor dealership.

He left school at 16 and started working in the motor industry and joined Westover in 1993 as a sales advisor. Nine years later, Paul was promoted to a sales manager, and then general sales manager at Westover Nissan.

Paul was promoted to brand manager and head of business for Nissan. He witnessed many changes in the industry in the past 25 years.

He said: “The motor industry is ever-changing, and in the past two or three years, the changes have been more and more apparent.”

“There is greater choice than ever for customers, and the customer tends to be more informed about the type of vehicle they want before
they step into the dealership.’

“Westover was a lot smaller when I joined, but it has managed to retain its family feel which is really important to me. What I enjoy most is that I form strong relationships with repeat customers. A 94-year-old man has been my customer since the 1970s and he comes in and asks for me.

“I have helped many of his friends and family choose their ideal vehicles, too.”

The Westover Group was established in 1923 and employs more than 725 people. It represents 15 vehicle manufacturers in 26 showrooms in Dorset and Wiltshire.
