An incident in Salisbury City Centre on Saturday, March 16, has led to the Police asking for help from witnesses.

A man was assaulted outside of Debenhams, Blue Boar Row, at about 10.30 pm by two men. The man ran to the entrance of Tesco, Castle Street, but the assailants caught up with him and assaulted him again, then walked off.

The 33-year-old victim, a local man, had no serious injuries.

Two suspects were found by Police in Belle Vue Road, one aged 19 and the other aged 20. They were arrested on suspicion of assault. The 20-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs (Cocaine). Both were taken into custody but released under investigation.

DC Dawn Rowan, Salisbury CID, said: ” Our investigation is progressing and we have been analysing CCTV from the area and carrying out enquiries with local businesses and residents.

“As it was a Saturday evening, it is likely a number of people may have important information which could assist us. We are asking for the public’s help and encourage anyone who witnessed the assaults to make contact with us.”
