Shaftesbury residents were invited to the Town Hall to hear about the proposed budget for the coming year and the draft strategic plan proposals.
During the preceding months, Shaftesbury town councillors have developed an ambitious plan to focus on developing Shaftesbury as a great place to live, work and visit. The council says it sets budgets aligned with public needs and aspirations for the town.
As well as services covering allotments, cemeteries, children play areas, open spaces, swimming pool, waste bins, bus shelters, war memorial, street markets, public toilets and the town hall, the council has generated more than 20 additional projects. A list of the proposed projects can be found via: www.shaftesbury-tc.gov.uk/draft-5-year-strategic-plan/
Throughout 2019, the Neighbourhood Plan was drawn up based on community feedback via a number of public engagement events. The feedback supported the development of policies and projects adopted by the council and the projects were incorporated in the Strategic Plan
