The first ever Loving Arms Festival in memory of Anne Pester on June 1 organised by the Pester family from Mere attracted more than 500 people for live music, hog roast, BBQ, bar, raffle and an auction.

Richard Pester said: “Anne was transferred to Salisbury Hospice in January, 2018, and treated and looked after extremely well by the amazing staff there.”

“Anne was put into a large room and a bed was provided for myself so I could stay by her side every night until the end.

“As Salisbury Hospice and staff were so brilliant and caring to both Anne and my family, we want to repay them in some small way by fundraising to help keep the high standards and this amazing service available to others.”

This festival could become an annual festival and a testament to the power of community fundraising and people together supporting their local hospice.

The amount raised was £7,311.75 in this, the first year of the event. www.salisburyhospicecharity.org.uk
