A new home, leisure and gardens retailer, The Range, opens its store in Salisbury on March 29.
The new store is on the Southampton Road retail park in the former Homebase store, opened at 9am by Mayor of Salisbury, Cllr Mike Osment.
Special opening offers for the first 50 people through the doors include the chance to win fabulous give-aways. Shoppers can also take advantage of various product offers that will run until April 14, the store said.
Throughout the opening weekend customers can take part in a series of free activities and demonstrations, including
Snazaroo face painting, on Saturday, March 30, 11am-4pm; Design objectives, craft demos, 10am-4pm, and Trimcraft demos on the from 11am to 4pm
More than 80 full and part-time jobs, from store to department managers, warehouse assistants to retail administrators will be created in the new store, expected to be a boost to the local economy and a positive addition to the area. The shop-fit team have been working round the clock to get the former Homebase site ready for the Grand Opening.
The Salisbury store opening is another sign of development and growth for the UK retailer. Another branch opens in Wrexham on the same day. The two branches take the total number of stores to more than 165 in the UK and Ireland.
The sudden growth of The Range, under the current economic challenges of the retail sector, is a mark of the entrepreneurial leadership of Plymouth-based owner and founder of the firm, Chris Dawson. He began life as a market stall trader in the South West of England before opening his first store in 1989 in Plymouth, under the name CDS (Chris Dawson Superstores) and has grown the company at an impressive rate ever since.
The retailer is recognised for stocking high quality products across 16 departments, all at fantastic prices. The new store in Salisbury includes a large outdoor garden centre and the complete Iceland Foods range.
Chris Dawson said: “Each store plays an important part in the success of our company and Salisbury is no exception. The site was on the radar for some time and we are delighted to replace the former Homebase with a new national retailer in the town.
“We are lucky with the staff we have, and I look forward to welcoming the new team members to the company. I would like to invite the local community to join us for the opening next Friday, and discover the fantastic selection of products we offer.”
