For World Car Free Day on Sunday, September 22, Salisbury Reds bus company is offering half-price travel in-and-around the city for passengers using mobile ticketing apps. Salisbury Reds is offering 50% off an adult Dayrider ticket, bought via the operator’s mobile app – Clickit2Ride.

The bus operator wants to help more people use sustainable transport in Salisbury, and World Car Free Day is an initiative aimed at easing congestion, and improving air quality by promoting shared transport, cycling and walking to motorists as alternatives of travel.

“At Salisbury Reds, we welcome any initiative to reduce harmful effects of exhaust emissions on the environment,” said managing director, Andrew Wickham.

“Our bus fleet is one of the newest and cleanest in the region. Recently, we have introduced brand new buses. Many have the very latest Euro 6 engine – releasing fewer emissions than the average new diesel car.

“World Car Free Day ties in perfectly with what we are trying to achieve. Buses provide the perfect and affordable solution to reducing air pollution, so we’re proud to have invested millions of pounds in improving the comfort and reliability of our services.”
