The 30th Anniversary annual Duck Race raised in excess of £900 for Chalke Valley Playschool, boosted by the race winner who donated the prize back.

The grateful organisers thanked everyone who supported the event, staff, committee and all who made it happen; Lady Pratchett via Rob and Sandra for the use of the field, Chalke Valley Stores, Coombe Bisset Stores, Queen’s Head and White Hart for selling ducks, Shrewton Silver Band and Sarum Morris Dancers for providing entertainment, and Fat Sam’s ice cream and Bamboo Coffee for refreshments, and the essential loos from Robert Beales.

The playschool’s baby ducks go to their home on a local farm after their star appearance at this year’s event.

“Leanne, playschool committee member did a great job raising them from eggs and it was lovely for the children to see some real live ducks alongside the plastic ones,” said organiser Laura Hobson.
