This week is National Apprenticeship Week and privately-owned motoring and car sales company Westover Group is providing a platform for young people to build their careers in their chosen trade.
The group employs 21 vehicle technician apprentices and one service advisor apprentice, helping them to learn new skills and gain hands-on experience and qualifications while they earn a wage. National Apprenticeship Week celebrates the impact of apprenticeships on individuals, employers and the economy but also aims to encourage people to choose an apprenticeship to start their career.
Westover is organising two recruitment events in April in Salisbury and Bournemouth to attract more talent. The events are on Tuesday April 2, from 5pm to 8pm, at Westover Renault Fiat Dacia showroom on Churchfields Industrial Estate, Salisbury, and Thursday April 4, from 5pm to 8pm, at Westover Nissan showroom on Wallisdown Road, Bournemouth. Within the last 12 months, six apprentices completed the group’s apprenticeship scheme to become fully-qualified service technicians and joined the 700-strong workforce. The majority of apprentices completing their training at the group qualify to secure a permanent technician role within the group.
Established in 1923, the Westover Group operates from 28 locations across Dorset and Wiltshire and represents 15 vehicle manufacturers – Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Dacia, Fiat, Hyundai, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia, Land Rover, Lexus, Lotus, Nissan, Renault, Skoda and Toyota.
