Mere Christmas Light winners received their shield and prize on the last day of Christmas, January 6.

The town council competition encouraged residents to put Christmas lights on private houses.

The judges were picked by town councillors, with Cllr Glen Ings in charge. He was also present at the prize-giving with his family to present the shield. Carnival Queen Olivia Gatehouse and Prince Thomas Ings.

Winners were Mr and Mrs Dick Morris of Downside Close, who received a shield and two bottles of wine.
