More than 70 Rotarians and their guests sat down to dinner at The White Hart Hotel, Salisbury, to celebrate the 40th Charter Anniversary of Rotary Club of Wilton.
Since its formation in 1979, club members have worked to raise thousands of pounds for local charities, the latest being Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Stars Appeal for Salisbury District Hospital.
Each of the charities was presented with a cheque for £1,000 at the charter dinner. Stars Appeal committee member Sarah Willan received the cheque, and Mike Fellows, MD of Mercedes Benz, Trustee of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance accepted its cheque.
Wilton Rotary Life President Arthur Bowden gave the members and their guests a brief history reminder of the work of Wilton Rotary and the Rotarian movement worldwide. He said Rotarians totalled 1.2 million throughout the world and he hoped this number could be sustained. He paid tribute to past members and presidents of the local club and members who gave time and expertise to raise money for worthy local causes.
