Reading and a love of stories is certainly alive and well. Salisbury Cathedral School celebrated World Book Day on March 7 with a morning of fun events and activities. Children dressed as their favourite book characters, and teachers were keen not to be outdone. Characters such as The Cat in the Hat, Oompa Loompas, and Tintin all enjoyed a chance to be taught by The Fat Controller, Professor Trelawney and Mary Poppins.
Heads were turned as Year 3-6 all enjoyed a walk through The Close into town to spend their book tokens at Waterstone’s. Pre-prep pupils put on a parade around the grounds to show off their fantastic outfits, and told stories in interesting locations. Competitions run by teachers included ‘The Extreme Reading Challenge’ and ‘Guess the Reader!’ with the whole school involved in celebrating books.
Next Open Day is on Friday, May 17, 10am to 12 noon.
