Shaftesbury’s Christmas late night spectacular on Monday, December 2, will kick off the festive season with something for all the family.
The High Street is closed from 4pm and at 6pm the town’s silver band starts playing. Santa finds his way to his grotto in the Town Hall to distribute free gifts to children.
Shaftesbury choirs encourage singalongs to favourite carols before the lights go on and the rest of the festivities begin, including a hog roast. The town’s many independent shops open for festive shopping and the odd glass of something.
Late night shopping is always festive fun for all the family. Expect a few surprises!
The seasonal festivities continue on Sunday, December 15 with the Christmas Market filling the town. About 100 stalls sell high quality crafts, food and drink and the organisers say this will be one of the biggest Christmas street markets in the county.
Churches Together perform their annual nativity play outside the Town Hall at 1pm.
As an added bonus, parking will be free for all Saturdays in December: time restrictions still apply.
