See this annual exhibition showcasing the best of the region's artistic talent. This highly popular exhibition showcases the best of the region's artistic talent. Any artist aged 18 or over can submit work for possible selection. The Society was founded in 1904 with 26 members. It has grown over the years to a membership of around 120 diverse, talented artists. Many distinguished 20th-century painters have exhibited with the Society including Walter Sickert, Patrick Heron, Mary Fedden and Howard Hodgkin. Director Tamsin Jacson brings the hot and steamy French Quarter of New Orleans to Studio in Tennessee Williams’s Pulitzer prize-winning drama which was first performed in 1947. Fragile beauty Blanche DuBois visits her sister Stella and brutish husband Stanley with devastating consequences.  Themes of sexual desire, social class, gender issues and madness are still relevant today. Dancing notes and frantic fingers

The musicians perform the Carnival of the Animals with two pianists, show tunes from Gilbert & Sullivan's Pineapple Poll, Dance of the Hours by Ponchielli and Delibes' Sylvia.  The orchestra’s 25th concert since its founder and conductor formation in 2004 will add to the £23,500 donated to local charities.
