Starting on Friday 10th November for one week only in honour of Remembrance Day.
The recently completed documentary Secret Spitfires, telling the story of secret factories based in Salisbury, Trowbridge, Southampton and Reading, has made it to the big screen. Young girls, women, boys, elderly men and a handful engineers built thousands of Spitfires hidden in garages, barns, sheds, bus depots and even a hotel during WW2. The secret has been kept for over 75 years and is revealed in this documentary for the very first time.
Salisbury was the most productive of all the centres which had numerous secret factories right in the centre of the city and built over 2000 Spitfires, adding up to more than 10% of total numbers ever built… but no one ever knew! The ‘Trailer’ for the film can be seen at the website www.secretspitfires.com
