After almost two years of planning and preparation, Magna Learning Partnership opened as a Multi Academy Trust on April 1.
Formed by three secondary schools in Salisbury and the surrounding area, the Trust opened with about 1,700 students in the three partner schools, St Edmund’s Girls’ School and Wyvern College, Salisbury, and Trafalgar School, Downton.
The aim is to enhance the quality of education. Recent research showed high levels of collaboration between schools leads to improved.
Executive Headteacher Sarah Busby said: “In Magna Learning Partnership, we have three already good secondary schools, each with strong leadership and a clear vision for more improvement.
“We look forward to providing new opportunities for students, staff and the communities we serve through the formation of Magna Learning Partnership.
The Trust expects to achieve efficiencies in shared services and provide more money to spend directly on education in each of the schools. In time Magna Learning Partnership hopes to welcome local primary schools into the Trust, as well as other education partners.
