Perfect pooch pinches top prize

On June 25, Dogwise Training School, Mere, held its annual dog show to help raise funds for Battersea Dogs Home and Happy Landings animal shelter, based in Shepton Mallet.

The owner of Dogwise Training School, Tina Hazzard, was delighted to announce that this year’s show was the best attended ever.

“Everyone had a really good day. There were so many lovely dogs and lots of great prizes. I want to thank everyone who came along to the day and made it such a special event,” said Tina.

Overall, £900 was raised. £600 of this will be going to Happy Landings animal shelter in Shepton Mallet to help in their mission to re-home animals. The remaining £300 will go to Battersea dogs home.

There were many delightful dogs, but best in show went to Nana Bugs, an Irish Wolfhound, owned by Tom. She also won scruffiest in show, so it goes to show that being scruffy doesn’t mean you can’t be great.

Nana Bugs won plenty of treats and belly rubs

“I was amazed she came 1st in the scruffiest dog section. She moved like a dream to win best in show and I am really happy, it was a super show,” said Tom.
