Japanese social workers learn about child care

A group of professional delegates from Japan, shared specialist knowledge on children’s therapeutic services with Salisbury’s Five Rivers Child Care.

A group of 19 visitors including social workers, care home managers, psychotherapists and academics keen to learn from the UK social care system visited Five Rivers’ headquarters to meet director of fostering, Nicci Willock and the organisation’s founder and CEO, Pam McConnell.

The group was interested to learn from Five Rivers about the UK’s mixed economy of care where different services are delivered by different providers and the voluntary, not for profit, state and private sector work together.

Five Rivers Child Care is a national organisation providing local support.
