Town council beats inflation

Shaftesbury Town Council‘s budget for the coming year has increased by 1.28%, beating the inflation rate over the past year of 3%.

The precept of £480,183, is the amount of money received by the council from the district council through the Council Tax. The increase per band D household will be only £1.97.

The council says it has “carefully scrutinised where its money is spent and looked at what is important to the residents of Shaftesbury. An ambitious strategic plan and collaborative working with the community has started the journey of working smarter for the town.”
