Schools can apply for up to £500-worth of free outdoor learning resources for children to get hands on with nature.
Applications for the Local School Nature Grants are open until November 30 and from the charity Learning through Landscapes, distributing £550,000 of funding from Postcode Local Trust, a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
The grants help transform thinking about outdoor education and learning potential in all school grounds regardless of setting and outdoor spaces. Teachers can take classes outdoors for any curriculum subject.
As well as £500-worth of outdoor resources, schools also receive a two-hour training session for staff on how to get the most out of the equipment. The scheme can be customised for infant, primary and secondary schools to choose which items best suit their pupils and the setting. The programme is also open to special schools and pupil referral units.
