As Dorset county moves from separate district councils to a combined unitary authority, prospective candidates are being urged to stand in the May elections.

A new group of independents,  ALL for Dorset, is looking for non-party political candidates for the unitary, town or parish council polls.

Alistair Chisholm, Dorchester town crier and independent town councillor, said it was time for change.

“I know people in Dorset care deeply about our area and what happens here. They have passion, experience and expertise that could be useful to Dorset.

“Now is a real opportunity to change and improve our system of local government and make it better for everyone.

“We need to act now and find better, non-political independent candidates who will stand in May,” he urged.

Download a form at https://allfordorset.org.uk/become-a-councillor by midday on February 24. Applicants will be invited to an interview.
