Salisbury families have once again shown their charitable side, after more than £800 was raised for the Stars Appeal through Cinemania at Old George Mall.
In the last few months of 2018, the Salisbury shopping destination played host to a cinema screen, complete with family favourites and blockbusters being shown across Saturdays and Sundays. Films including The Greatest Showman, Peter Rabbit, Moana and more were all available to enjoy, with a total of 14 different films being screened.
Entry to Cinemania was free, and the fantastic total was raised by kind-hearted shoppers making small change donations. Old George Mall Centre Administrator, Jane Potter, said she was thrilled with the amount collected. “I’d like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who contributed,” said Jane.
“Raising £800 is a fantastic result and something everyone should be immensely proud of. We’ve been supporting Stars Appeal with our Cinemania screens for some time now and this total means we’ve now collected more than £3,500 for the charity.
“It is such a fantastic and worthwhile cause, and all of the money raised really makes a huge difference to those that need it the most. Our Cinemania event is always a lot of fun and these kind donations make it even more special.”
Penny Brown, Chairman of the Stars Appeal Fundraising Committee said: “We are so grateful to Old George Mall for their continued support through Cinemania and to everyone who attends and gives so generously.
“The money is helping local people in hospital get better faster, return home sooner and to have more positive Hospital experience by funding projects that provide direct, practical support to patients such as free Wi-Fi, recreational trips for people with spinal injuries and aromatherapy for cancer patients to name just three examples.”
