Former Gillingham Mayor Barry Von Clemens, now chairman of the council’s general purposes committee, wants people to become more aware of mental health.
“This is Mental Health Awareness Week. This year, the campaign is focusing on stress in the workplace and at home. Research has shown that two thirds of us experience a mental health problem in our lifetimes and stress is a key factor in this.
“I hope to draw as many people’s attention to the issue over the week. With a growing number of people suffering from this illness it is important we are all aware of the problem and that if we either suffer from, or if we know someone who is suffering from it, we can find help and support,” he said.
