Jailed for breaching police cordon

Jamie Knight, 30, of Fair View Road, Wilton, pleaded guilty to a racially-aggravated public order offence, assaulting a police officer, common assault and criminal damage. He was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison.

In an incident in The Maltings on Friday evening, March 9, Knight breached a police cordon and was restrained by a police officer and a security guard. He appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court on March 12. He was ordered to pay £500 compensation to the two people injured, as well as costs and a victim surcharge.

A 29-year-old man from Salisbury was arrested on suspicion of obstructing a police officer but released under investigation pending further enquiries.
