Golfers keen to tee off

It was a very early start on Sunday, July 1, for four members of Rushmore Golf Club.

Jake Chandler, Darren Murphy, Arlindo Costa De Simoes and their leader Steve King, teed off at 4.30am, taking part in the Macmillan 72-Hole Challenge by playing 100 holes at Rushmore Golf Course.

They were assisted by other members of the club with ball-spotting, caddying, and spare batteries for them to play as a fourball throughout the day.

Members and visitors playing the course also assisted by standing aside as they moved around the course at some pace to complete five-and-a-half rounds of golf with just a 30 minute break for a shower and change of clothes after the third round.

At 6pm, they completed their mammoth task, 13.5 hours later, raising close to £2,500 for The Macmillan Cancer Support.
