Police have asked Valley News to help them get information about a distraction burglary in which cash was stolen from a house in Wilton.
At about 11.45am on Monday, July 9, a man called at a house in Hillside Road and told the homeowner – a man aged in his 90s – that he was a gardener, went in and stole cash from a bedroom.
No vehicles were seen in the area at the time, but the man is described as around 50 years old, 5ft 10ins tall and of stocky build. He was clean-shaven, wearing a baseball cap, with a green T-shirt and trousers.
PC Kieran Leibrick said: “This has caused the elderly victim a lot of upset. We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen this man in the area around the time of this incident, or anyone who thinks this man may have called at their address on the same day.
“Please call us on 101 and quote crime reference number 54180063048.”
