Dash cam footage wanted after shoplifting and dangerous driving incident

Police are calling for witnesses and dash cam footage afer a shoplifting and dangerous driving incident in Salisbury at 1.45pm on Bank Holiday Monday (May 28.)

A staff member at Sports Direct in Churchill Way West tried to stop a suspected shoplifter as he jumped into a waiting silver VW Polo, which drove off at speed.
The member of staff fell on the bonnet of the vehicle, but it drove out of the car park and down Churchill Way West, before being blocked by another vehicle, and the employee, a man in his 20s, managed to jump off, but suffered minor leg injuries.

PC James Barrett, from Wiltshire South Community Policing Team, said: “This was an incredibly dangerous incident and it is lucky that nobody was seriously hurt.

“I am appealing to anyone in the car park at the time and either witnessed the incident or may have dash-cam footage. We would also like to speak to the driver of a white Range Rover, which attempted to block the suspect car before the roundabout.”

A 38-year-old woman from Andover was arrested on suspicion of theft, assault, failing to stop and dangerous driving, and released under investigation.
