Mere resident Bella Guy is looking forward to owning her own home after winning the jackpot of £25,000 playing Mere School Lottery.
Bella matched all six of the numbers drawn last month and won the big prize. Bella bought the tickets to support Mere Primary School, where her seven year old daughter, Amelia is a pupil, and two-year old, Daisy will follow. Bella and her husband, Chris, were also pupils at the school. Bella is the first winner of the £25,000 jackpot of Your School Lottery, run by external lottery managers, Gatherwell.
“I honestly can’t believe my luck, this is incredible” said Bella. “I’ve only been supporting Mere School Lottery since April, it hasn’t sunk in yet.”
“We will definitely buy our own home so we will save some of the money for a deposit,” said Bella. “We also want to take a family holiday in the sun, something we haven’t been able to do for a long time”
Kate Jenkins, from the Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) at said: “We’ve had great community support for our school lottery since we started five months ago. We’re a small school, just 200 pupils, and wanted to raise money without the same handful of PTA committee members having to constantly organise events. The school lottery has encouraged lots of different people to contribute, and we’re on target to raise £2,700 in our first year – all without having to do very much!”
“Anyone 16 years old or older, in the UK can play Mere School Lottery. Tickets cost from just £1 a week. All money raised goes back into the school.”
