The half-pipe in Warminster’s skatepark is being pulled down.
It will take up to two weeks to dismantle and is currently surrounded by safety fencing.
The town council said users will be disappointed to lose the pipe but it had tried to preserve it for as long as possible, but the annual inspection showed it was clear it had come to the end of its life.
The Skatepark Group, with Friends of Warminster Park and local youth workers, have considered designs for a new amenity and have started fundraising for the £200,000 project.
The plans are to install a concrete state-of-the-art wheeled sports park for the local community but also attract users from further afield.
Councillor Ridout, chair of the Skatepark Group’s committee and member of Friends of Warminster Park said: “The challenge has now started to raise the funds for the desperately needed facility for our young people.”
