New warehouse store open in Wilton

The Alabaré Wilton Emporium officially opened on Warminster Road, Wilton, on April 8.

Rev John Proctor OBE, Alabaré founder, and Mayor of Wilton Cllr Trevor Batchelder held a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“Many – items on display have been refurbished by the Alabaré team and their volunteers. Some wonderful items of furniture on display will help to raise essential funds for the great work of Alabaré,” Trevor told the assembly.

Guests enjoyed live music, refreshments, fish and chips and face painting at the official opening.

The 6,500 sq ft superstore hopes to raise funds to support people overcome homelessness, mental ill-health and learning disabilities.

The expansive building stocks a variety of quality products including: vintage restored furniture, collectables, household items, electrical items, clothes, shoes, books and bric-a-brac. Vintage and collectables are also on sale.

“We have received strong support from locals. We have something for everyone at affordable prices. Everything is under one roof and not left in storage,” Lynn Ireland, retail manager at Alabaré told Valley News.

The emporium has plans to open a coffee shop and to be a destination for visitors to spend a day. Lynn is actively encouraging new members to join the growing team.

“The superstore will sell donated goods to raise vital finds for its projects but it will also house independent traders selling specialised items.

“The benefits of joining our team are tremendous; workers can give something back to the local community. It’s not just about working in the shop; it’s about talking to people and helping the local community.

“We want to work with Wilton, and we a looking at the population of Wilton to help us,” Lynn added.

The new superstore is open from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and Saturday, from 10am to 5pm. The store is signposted off the main A36 heading out of Wilton towards Warminster. Parking is free and the store is easily accessible for dropping off donations.
